Cinque Terre, one  of the most beautiful places in the world, is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the 5 towns, colourful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, harbours are filled with fishing boats and trattorias turn out seafood specialties along with the Liguria region’s famous sauce, pesto. The Sentiero Azzurro cliffside hiking trail links the villages and offers sweeping sea vistas. Cinque Terre has been a world heritage site since 1997.

The 5 village are, from south to north are:

Riomaggiore - Manarola - Corniglia - Vernazza - Monterosso

GETTING THERE

Getting to Cinque Terre is very easy.  Fly into Pisa - From Pisa Central Station take the train to La Spezia (1 h 21 min) - Then take the train from La Spezia to Riomaggiore (7 min) - Stay on the train if you are staying in any of the other villages
