LOFOTEN - TO SLEEP

There are so many places to stay in Lofoten. You will see many signs for Rorbuer which is a Norwegian traditional type of seasonal house used by fishermen, normally located in a fishing village. The buildings are built on land, but with the one end on poles in the water, allowing easy access to vessels

I normally stay to the west of the island in Hamnøy, but Reine is a 5 minute drive away and also beautiful, and i normally book accommodation via booking.com

These are my 3 favourite places to stay

Eliassen Rorbuer, Hamnøy, Lofoten

eliassen rorbuer

As the picture postcard view of Lofoten, staying in one of these iconic fisherman's cabins at Eliassen Rorbuer is a truly wonderful experience.  Through absolute luck I stayed for my very first night in Lofoten in the far right red cabin. I highly recommend staying in Eliassen Rorbuer, and they do all sorts of cabins, from very basic and traditional to a lot more luxurious.

Reinefjorden Sjøhus, Hamnøy, Lofoten

Reinefjorden Sjøhus

My new favourite place is absolutely amazing, offering the best views of Eliassen Rorbuer, but from the other side and front row seats for Aurora Watching. Most of my Northern Light Lofoten photos were taken from the balcony of the orange house to the left of the main white building and I can't recommend this place enough.  They were newly built in 2017, to a very high spec and excellent customer service.

Sakrisøy Rorbuer, Reine, Lofoten

Sakrisøy Rorbuer

The picture perfect orange Rorbuers of Sakrisøy create a beautiful holiday community, with a great restaurant thats open daily.  Situated between Reine and Hamnøy the location is perfect for exploring Lofoten in both directions.
