Paris is always a good idea...

The Eurostar from London to Paris is a doorway to the continent offering you a day trip to the French Capital in a shorter amount of time than it takes to get to Manchester from London.  In just 2 hours and 25 minutes you find yourself transported from London St Pancras to Paris’s Gare du Nord.

Frequently spending working days in Paris, this time it was a pleasure trip with my sister and niece.

We walked from Gare du Nord to Madeline to have breakfast in my favourite cafe, Paris London which was closed. This worked out to our advantage as I decided to treat them instead to breakfast in Ladurée, the best Macaron restaurant in the world - however a chocolate eclair won for breakfast with one of the best coffees I’ve ever had.

From Ladurée on Rue Royale, right next to location that the company I work for was founded in 1909, we walked down to Place de la Concorde where we got our first glimps of The Eiffel Tower.

After a few photos we walked through The Tuileries Gardens all the way to The Louvre and from there along the Seine to The Notre Dame Cathedral.

I’ve always been fascinated by The Notre Dame, but have only ever seen it from the outside. This time I had a tour of the inside which was absolutely stunning as well as a trip to the top to see and photograph the iconic Gargoyles.

With just the day in Paris we only had time for one more stop - and of course this needed to be The Eiffel Tower.  We walked from The Eiffel Tower up to the viewing platform at Place du Trocadéro and the views were as always breathtaking.

After a packed day we saw so much of Paris, but also left enough for another visit to discover even more.

To be a tourist in the beautiful, amazing city is always a pleasure, reminding me that ‘Paris is always a good idea’
